Description
Chaophraya River is the heart of and main waterway through the central region of Thailand. Much of Thai history can be traced along its banks and in ancient times it served as life to the people who lived alongside it.Nowadays, it's still just as important to Thai people as it passes through the rural countryside, linking the tiny villages to civilisation.Meanwhile, Chaophraya - located in Blayds Court just off Swinegate - is a vital aspect of the restaurant scene in Leeds offering diners high quality Thai food and excellent standards of service. The different Thai cookery terms are helpfully translated into English - just in case you don't know your gai from your gae - and the menu split into the various cooking styles. So along with curries and stir fry's, there are also ample choices for vegetarians.

" The staff here have permanent smiles and are really polite and helpful, although their English is not brilliant they make up for it in effort. The starters were huge - the meat in puff pastry parcels were like small Cornish pasties, but there were three so was a struggle eating them knowing there was a main course to follow. There were four spring rolls in a portion as well! The red curry was delicious and the lamb shank in thai spices was gorgeous and huge, so we had quite a doggy bag that night. The only thing I will fault was the thai sticky rice I ordered - it came all stuck in a gloopy lump, but when I pointed this out the waiter whisked it away a little embarrassed and replaced it immediately with no charge. " Food is very very good , and good looking as well, decor is fantastic, really authentic asian design but service is not really friendly (but is still quite quick) "

" Hubby & I visited on a Thursday evening and it was VERY busy! Good food in nice surroundings with helpful staff. Although when going to pay the bill, they hadn´t taken off our Hi Life discount - which was a bit of a shock! But otherwise a good place to eat. "

" My favourite Thai restaurant in Leeds! Delicious prawn/crab/pork dumplings and the fish fillet in thick red sauce is to die for. Highly recommended. "

" Definitely the best Thai in the city centre, and always good atmosphere / ambience / service and good value too. Been there a few years now and still consistently good, definitely recommended. "

" The best Thai in Leeds for me. However - don´t sit too close to the water feature. Had a mild but persistent "spray" hitting me & presumably the food. "
